A Pretty Good Year / Stuart Ross

A Pretty Good Year

Published in 2014, A Pretty Good Year chronicles a year in the life of one of Canada’s most endearing and prolific poets.

Author’s Note from the chapbook:

“My partner and I faced some considerable challenges in 2013. As a result, we saw a lot of hospital time, including Emerg and the chemo suite. Over this period, I found myself writing (mostly) haiku as a method of coping. I even counted syllables, which I hadn’t ever done before. It was calming; it was cathartic. As I wrote them, I sent each poem to a small group of close friends and family. The first poem here was written in early July. The final poem was written on January 1, 2014. A couple of others were written early in 2014 and placed where they belong in the sequence.”

This chapbook is published in an edition of 80. The cover image is a photograph of the Colborne Apple by Laurie Siblock.
